Tomorrow's weather column by WKRG's Jonathan Owens:

Plenty of sun will dominate through this weekend, and a slow warming trend will bring temperatures up to near seasonal averages. We’ve been as much as 20 degrees below the average for this time of year, with the cold air that’s been in place!

Highs will approach 80 degrees and morning lows will climb into the upper 50s to about 60 degrees. A slight increase in fair weather clouds will be seen early in the week.

By late week, a low pressure storm system will bring a chance of rain to the Gulf Coast, and the rain will be followed up by another surge of cold air. The timing on the surge of cold air differs in some of our computer modeling, with some models bringing it in Thursday and some bringing it in Friday.

In the tropics, an area of thunderstorms off the coast of Central America is being monitored for signs of development.
